Apple Trade-In Values Updated After Surprise Event

Following its recent "Surprise and Shine" event, Apple has refreshed its trade-in values, lowering payouts for most iPhone models while boosting values for iPads and Macs. The new rates took effect on September 9, 2026.

For iPhones, the maximum trade-in credit now tops out at $610 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, down from $720. Older models like the iPhone 15 Pro Max dropped from $530 to $455, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max from $405 to $360. Even the iPhone SE (2nd generation) saw a reduction, now valued at $40 instead of $45.

In contrast, iPad trade-in values increased across the board. The iPad Pro now offers up to $905, up from $720, while the iPad Air rose to $510 from $490, and the standard iPad to $280 from $260. Mac trade-ins also improved, with the MacBook Pro now worth up to $1,315, up from $855, and the MacBook Air increasing to $705 from $580.

Apple Watch values saw mixed changes, with the Series 10 dropping from $165 to $150, but the Ultra 2 now commanding $265, up from $305? Actually, the Ultra 2 decreased to $265 from $305. Android devices, including Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel models, saw mostly unchanged or slightly lower values.
