Apple and Porsche have reunited for a nostalgic racing collaboration that brings back the iconic liveries from their 1980 partnership. Two Porsche 963 race cars will showcase the retro-inspired wrap at Laguna Seca during the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on May 3rd, directly referencing the legendary Porsche 935 K3 that first carried the Apple logo forty-five years ago.

The design celebrates two major milestones arriving in 2026: Porsche Motorsport's 75th anniversary and Apple's 50th anniversary. The original 935 K3 competed in major events during the 1980 season, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This one-time special livery pays tribute to that historic racing heritage.

Oliver Schusser, Apple's VP of Music, Sports and Beats, explained the collaboration's significance, noting the partnership dates back to 1980 when a Porsche race car first carried the Apple logo. He called it "the beginning of a shared passion for innovation and creativity that continues to define our collaboration today."

The timing feels particularly fitting given incoming Apple CEO John Ternus has personal experience driving Porsche race cars around Laguna Seca. This weekend also marks F1's return to the U.S. with the Miami Grand Prix airing Sunday on Apple TV.
