A UK tribunal has allowed part of a renewed antitrust lawsuit against Apple and Amazon to move forward, over allegations that the companies restricted competition for Apple and Beats products sold on Amazon's marketplace. The original 2023 class action, led by consumer law academic Christine Riefa, alleged a 2018 agreement that limited third-party sellers and drove up prices. Britain's Competition Appeal Tribunal previously refused certification due to financing concerns and questioned Riefa's independence, stating she was "extremely reliant on her legal advisers".

The claim was refiled by new representative Justin Le Patourel. Today, the tribunal allowed claims for Apple products purchased through Amazon's marketplace to proceed, estimating potential damages between £289 million and £306 million, while rejecting claims for direct Apple purchases as "complex and speculative".
