Republicans Hold Major Financial Edge in Final Midterm Stretch

Republicans enter the final weeks of the 2026 midterm elections with a significant financial advantage, planning to spend approximately $221 million more on advertising than Democrats through Election Day, according to Ad Impact. Total Republican ad spending across Senate, House, and state races is projected at $888 million versus $666 million for Democrats.

This edge is driven largely by outside groups. President Trump's super PAC, MAGA Inc., reported $416 million on hand this month and has begun deploying its war chest. The Republican National Committee held $126 million in cash, while the Democratic National Committee was $750,000 in debt. House Republicans also held a $13 million cash advantage over House Democrats.

In eight of the top nine Senate races, Republicans lead in ad spending, with gaps as large as $30 million in Ohio, a figure expected to grow with crypto industry spending. However, Democratic Senate candidates have historically outraised GOP rivals at the candidate level, and campaigns receive cheaper ad rates than outside groups, potentially allowing Democrats to do more with less.
