An NBC news helicopter crashed in Los Angeles County late Tuesday, killing at least three people, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. One of the victims was a pedestrian in a parking lot in Chatsworth, a Los Angeles suburb, as confirmed by fire department spokesman Branden Silverman. The crash occurred between two commercial buildings just before 7 p.m., destroying the helicopter and damaging four vehicles and two shipping containers.

Two additional people were taken to hospitals with unknown conditions. NBC4 Los Angeles anchor Colleen Williams paused coverage to honor the loss, later ending the broadcast abruptly. The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation, with an investigator arriving Wednesday morning.

Earlier Tuesday, a separate crash involving a passenger vehicle and a Los Angeles Metro bus killed two people nearby. Mayor Karen Bass expressed devastation over both incidents. Shawn Hubler contributed reporting.
