The Philippines is preparing to launch a new series of Retail Treasury Bonds, marking 25 years since the first small‑denominated debt offering. According to people familiar with the plan, the government may issue the bonds as early as next month, pending market conditions. Finance Secretary Frederick Go confirmed the “very soon” timeline but offered no further details.

The Bureau of the Treasury highlighted that RTBs have long allowed Filipinos to save, invest, and contribute to national development, promising “greater” initiatives ahead. Retail bonds, with a minimum investment of 5,000 pesos versus 10 million for conventional securities, are a vital funding source. The latest retail bond sale in August raised 507.2 billion pesos, adding to the 5 trillion pesos of outstanding government securities.
