Manchester Basketball became the first British team to win a FIBA Basketball Champions League qualifying round match by beating German side Wurzburg Baskets. Bristol Flyers will compete in the ENBL, while the Lions return to the Euro Cup after beating Paris Basketball in pre-season.

On 12 October, the Lions will become the first British side to play an NBA team, facing the Portland Trail Blazers in the USA. "I've wanted to be in the NBA since I was six years old. This is the closest I've ever been," Lions CEO Lenz Balan said. Balan hopes summer acquisitions, including Keenan Evans, will help the Lions compete in Europe.

Cardiff Met Archers host B Braun Sheffield Hatters in the SLBW opener on 3 October. "I think there's an opportunity to build something that people genuinely want to watch," Archers head coach Stef Collins said.
