Leicestershire County Cricket Club have confirmed they will appeal against a 27-point deduction imposed by the independent Cricket Discipline Panel (CDP) following their County Championship match against Glamorgan at Uptonsteel Grace Road in August. The sanction, announced midway through their penultimate match, comprises a £5,000 fine, the loss of 19 points earned from their 42-run victory, and an additional eight-point penalty, dropping the Foxes to the bottom of Division One. Chief Executive Emma White stated the club has "serious concerns about the process" and has instructed barrister Craig Harris of Furnival Chambers and Oliver Laurence of Periculum Sport to lead the appeal.

White emphasized the panel found no intent to cheat and praised the grounds team's record. Head groundsman Callum Lewin cited mitigating factors including an unscheduled Bollywood filming event four days prior and exceptionally hot weather. The starting 16-point deduction was reduced to eight at the tribunal due to early admission and a clean 24-month record, with a further eight points suspended for a year.

The appeal creates uncertainty over the second relegation spot alongside Hampshire, impacting the final standings involving Warwickshire, Surrey, Somerset, Essex, and Glamorgan.
