Ruben Dias On New Signings And Enzo Maresca At Manchester City

Manchester City captain Ruben Dias has praised the club's summer signings as "desperate to win" following a record-breaking transfer window. City invested a Premier League record £458m in new talent, including Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson, and Ayyoub Bouaddi, while recouping over £300m in sales. The departures of Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and John Stones marked a significant squad overhaul.

Dias, who joined from Benfica in 2020, has been handed the captaincy by new manager Enzo Maresca, who replaced Pep Guardiola after 10 years. Maresca, previously Guardiola's assistant at Etihad Stadium, is described by Dias as the "perfect person for the job" because he "knew the house so well." Despite the influx of new players, City have started the season strongly with four consecutive victories across the Premier League and Champions League. However, they face a stern test away to Manchester United on Sunday.

Dias emphasized that the new signings are buying into Maresca's ideas, noting there is "a lot of joy in training." The 29-year-old defender, who has over 250 appearances for the club, recently signed a contract extension until 2029. He reflected on the natural transition, stating, "I am appreciative of all of it" and remains ambitious about maintaining consistency at the highest level.
