Uefa will pay 611 clubs a flat rate of £3,285 per player named in a squad list for each Nations League or Euro 2028 qualifying match, a 5% increase from the 2020-24 cycle. This number could rise to over 900 clubs when including the full Euro 2028 tournament. RB Leipzig tops the 2024-25 Nations League compensation list at £302,000 for releasing 16 players. Premier League clubs with the most players released for the 2026-27 Nations League include Liverpool (17), Arsenal (13), and Leeds United (11).

Payment requires a player to be named on a team sheet; call-ups alone do not guarantee compensation. Additional players are involved in other international tournaments and under-21 matches under different compensation systems. Clubs sending fewer players benefit from extra rest and training time for those remaining.
