Former Exeter City, Crystal Palace, Barnsley and Watford goalkeeper Kevin Miller has died aged 57. He was working as Wigan Athletic's goalkeeping coach and passed away unexpectedly overnight on Tuesday.

Miller moved to Wigan over the summer to reunite with former Exeter boss Gary Caldwell. Wigan said: "Although Kevin's time with Latics was far too short, he quickly became a much-loved and respected member of our first team staff." The club added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin's wife, Fiona, daughter, Esme, close family, friends, colleagues and all who knew and loved him."

Exeter described Miller as having earned "a place in the hearts of supporters." He joined Exeter in 1989, helping them to the fourth-tier title during a 200-game spell. He moved to Birmingham City in 1993, then had three years at Watford, twice winning player of the season, before moving to Premier League Palace in 1997 for £1.5m.

He played all 38 games as Palace were relegated in 1998. After three years at Barnsley, he returned to Exeter in 2002. Spells at Bristol Rovers, Southampton and Torquay United followed, ending his career with 738 appearances.
