Alexander Isak says joining Liverpool from Newcastle was an "easy decision". The Sweden striker arrived last September for a British record £125m fee. "[Liverpool] is a massive club, and everything about the club made it pretty clear," he told BBC Sport. Isak missed pre-season training at Newcastle amid uncertainty around his future, citing broken promises. He struggled for goals in his first season at Anfield before a leg break ruled him out from December to April. This season, the 26-year-old has already matched last season's tally of three Premier League goals after only four games.

Asked if he ever regretted the move, Isak replied: "No, never. I would never think like that." He added that the World Cup was perfect timing after his injury layoff, allowing him to regain rhythm and form with the Sweden national team.

New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola wants Isak to defend from the front as an "attacking weapon". Under Iraola, Liverpool are implementing a high-intensity, aggressive style of football. Isak, who has 60 Premier League goals, is determined to help bring silverware to Liverpool this year but does not set personal targets.
