NVIDIA has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12,930,300,000, marking a major move to scale the open model developer platform and expand global AI access. Founded by Clem and team, Hugging Face hosts over 18 million developers sharing 3 million models, 500,000 datasets, and 1 million applications.

The platform will remain open, supporting multi-cloud and multi-accelerator development without requiring NVIDIA compute. It will continue backing open source and open weight models from all builders, reinforcing NVIDIA’s long-standing commitment to open AI. The company has contributed over 500 models and 250 datasets to Hugging Face.

This acquisition aims to enhance platform reliability, safety, model evaluation, and deployment while preserving the open ecosystem. NVIDIA believes open models accelerate innovation, strengthen cybersecurity and sovereignty, and empower startups, universities, and public institutions to build advanced AI capabilities.
