Amazon Web Services announced it cannot restore some customer data hosted in Persian Gulf data centers struck by Iranian drones earlier this year. The facilities in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have been mostly offline since the attacks in the opening days of the U.S. conflict. AWS confirmed damage was spread across multiple sites in Bahrain, raising concerns about permanent data loss for affected customers.

This announcement marks the first indication that information stored exclusively in these regions may be gone forever.
