Apple today released the first public beta of macOS Golden Gate, expanding the macOS 27 beta test to non-developers. You can sign up on Apple's beta website and download via System Settings > General > Software Update.

macOS Golden Gate includes the same Siri AI features as iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, accessed through Spotlight with Command + Space. Siri can search the web, access personal data like photos and messages, complete actions across apps, and hold ongoing conversations. Apple brought Visual Intelligence to the Mac, letting Siri analyze screen content.

The Liquid Glass design has been updated with a transparency slider, improved opacity for complex content, and UI changes adding depth and window separation. Apps feature uniform toolbars, less rounded corners, edge-to-edge sidebars, and consistent window positioning across displays.

Write with Siri generates text, corrects grammar, and offers feedback. Photos gains AI editing tools, Shortcuts supports natural language automations, and search improves in Mail and Messages. Performance enhancements deliver a faster, smoother experience even on older Macs.
