Meta announced holographic avatars for its new VR glasses and Meta Ray-Ban Display frames. The technology, powered by the Muse Realtime Avatar model, creates digital likenesses that are remarkably realistic. Setting up an avatar for the display glasses involves a brief process in the Meta AI app, capturing facial angles and voice characteristics.

Once configured, users can engage in video calls via WhatsApp or Zoom, with avatars approximating real facial expressions. Meta is also introducing full-body avatars for its VR glasses, leveraging advanced cameras and sensors to capture expressions without prior training. These avatars offer a more natural appearance compared to competitors, though they are limited to frontal views and may exhibit some distortion.
