Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its first touchscreen laptop along with a redesigned iPad Mini, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The touchscreen MacBook, potentially named MacBook Ultra, is expected to debut 'on or around' October 27 and will run on the same M5 Pro and Max chips used in current high-end MacBook Pro models. Rumors about a touchscreen MacBook have circulated since 2023, with recent reports suggesting the device will feature a dynamic interface adapting to different input modes.

In addition to the touchscreen laptop, Apple's October event is expected to include a redesigned iPad Mini with an OLED display, as well as minor updates to the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac to incorporate the new M6 chip. The current entry-level MacBook Pro runs on an M5 chip, while the iMac still uses an M4 chip. Apple is also planning to introduce a new line of smart home devices on October 13, following the summer release of its first foldable iPhone Duo.
