Apple has a new M6 MacBook Pro launching this fall with a 14-inch screen and current industrial design. The M6 chip introduces three major upgrades. First, a Dual 16-core Neural Engine provides up to 2x peak compute over previous generations, accelerating on-device AI workflows with macOS 27.

Second, the base M6 chip offers a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, a significant upgrade over the M5's 10 cores. Notably, Apple is bringing three distinct core types to the base chip for the first time: 2 super cores, 4 performance cores, and 6 efficiency cores. Third, M6 is the first Apple chip built on a new 2nm process, delivering a major leap in performance and power efficiency.
