AI-linked stocks slipped globally on Monday as investors reacted to warnings about existential risks from leading AI companies. The heads of Anthropic, Open AI, and Space X called for a slowdown in AI development. Anthropic's Dario Amodei published an essay arguing for coordinated management of AI's pace and safety, with Open AI's Sam Altman and Elon Musk voicing agreement.

Shares of Soft Bank, which owns about 13 per cent of Open AI, fell as much as 13 per cent. South Korea's Kospi dropped 2.4 per cent, Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 1.1 per cent, and Nasdaq 100 futures pointed to a 1.2 per cent lower US opening.

Asian AI infrastructure suppliers, among this year's biggest winners, were hit hard. Kioxia dropped over 6 per cent, SK Hynix declined 4.3 per cent, Samsung Electronics fell 2.5 per cent, and TSMC lost 0.8 per cent. In Hong Kong, Chinese AI start-ups Z.AI and Mini Max slipped 7.4 per cent and 6.1 per cent respectively, with analysts citing Z.AI's additional equity and debt issuance.
