RS2 Healthcare Partners has completed an undisclosed investment in KMM Group, a precision contract manufacturer headquartered in Hatboro, Pennsylvania. KMM specializes in complex, tight-tolerance components for the medical device industry and other highly demanding markets. The deal is RS2’s first new platform investment since the Boston-based firm rebranded earlier this year to focus exclusively on healthcare investing in the lower middle market. Founded in 1989, RS2 has raised $1.6 billion in total capital commitments since inception.

“The Company is a differentiated, founder-owned business operating in a sector that we have targeted for many years and where we have significant experience and deep relationships,” said Patrick Furlong, partner at RS2 Healthcare Partners. Alongside the investment, RS2 appointed J. Mark King as president and CEO of KMM. King has more than 30 years of experience in the medical device industry and was previously president and CEO of Tegra Medical.

KMM co-founders John Shegda and Eric Wilhelm will stay with the business. Shegda becomes chief technology officer, leading engineering and technology strategy. Wilhelm becomes executive vice president, business transformation and organizational capability. Choate, Hall & Stewart provided legal counsel to RS2 Healthcare Partners.
