World Series Matchup
The Brewers and Rays are set to meet in the Fall Classic, a matchup of two franchises still hunting their first championship trophy. Tampa Bay advanced after beating Cleveland in Game 6 of the ALCS, and Caminero's unlikely blast capped the pennant-clinching win with a 38.7-second home run trot. The series ranks among the stronger Fall Classic pairings since 2000.
Sportsbook Liability
Milwaukee, which began the regular season as a long championship underdog, now carries heavy sportsbook liability heading into the series.
ALCS MVP
Freddy Peralta was named ALCS MVP after pitching Tampa Bay into the World Series, and his turnaround is a key story after a difficult stint with the Mets.
Cleveland's Collapse
The Guardians ran out of gas in the ALCS, extending their championship drought to 78 years. Cleveland turned Game 6 over to its bullpen, starting with Shawn Armstrong, after a bold trade deadline revived its season.
Front Office and Free Agency
The Athletics hired Taylor Smith as president of baseball operations, while the Orioles named Jared Banner as general manager. The qualifying offer for this year's free agents rose to $23.15M, up 5.1% from 2025. In the Bronx, Aaron Boone will return as Yankees manager for a 10th season in 2027, according to a source.
International Market
Japanese slugger Teruaki Sato, is seeking to join an MLB team through the posting system after helping his national team reach a major international stage.
