Apple could release a home security system and service in 2027, according to Bloomberg. The company is designing a privacy-forward home security camera that will "use AI to monitor the surrounding environment instead of actual video footage." It will work with a new home security and monitoring service, but no additional detail is included.

Apple plans to release a home hub for controlling smart home devices before the end of the year, with rumors of a wireless camera with Siri integration. Apple already has HomeKit Secure Video, featuring end-to-end encryption and iCloud storage for compatible HomeKit cameras.

In iOS 27, Apple is upgrading HomeKit camera features, including written summaries for motion alerts and grouped footage. These require a 2TB or higher iCloud+ plan, while HomeKit Secure Video needs a 50GB plan or better.

A future home security monitoring service could tie into iCloud+ and existing HomeKit Secure Video features.
