NHL Playoff Picture & Roster Moves
As the regular season winds down, speculation is intensifying over bracket busters among the wild card contenders, even as teams finalize their prospects. The Washington Capitals bolstered their depth by signing Boston University defenseman Cole Hutson to a three-year entry-level contract immediately following the conclusion of his Hockey East season. Meanwhile, fan interest remains high for established stars seeking their first championship, with veteran blueliner Brent Burns leading the list of "old guys without a Cup" who could make a meaningful run in the 2026 postseason projections.
Injury Updates & Player Safety
The Montreal Canadiens suffered a setback Sunday night when forward Kirby Dach exited their contest against the Anaheim Ducks due to an upper-body injury sustained after a high hit delivered by Ducks winger Jeffrey Viel. This injury adds immediate concern for Montreal's postseason hopes, which are already precarious as they monitor the playoff race and potential lottery standings.
