NHL Injury & Prospect News
The Montreal Canadiens suffered a blow late Sunday when forward Kirby Dach sustained an upper-body injury following a high check from Anaheim's Jeffrey Viel, forcing his exit from the game against the Ducks. Contrastingly, the Washington Capitals secured a future asset, signing Boston University defenseman Cole Hutson to a three-year entry-level contract immediately after his Hockey East tournament run concluded Saturday. These individual developments come as speculative analysis continues regarding the Ducks' slim playoff path, with projections detailing the specific combination of wins required for Anaheim to potentially capture the Pacific Division title amidst the tight standings race.
