Russell Martin: Leicester boss on criticism

Leicester City boss Russell Martin does not know why he "upsets so many people" and says criticism has "become personal".

Ex-Foxes forward Matt Piper called the Oxford defeat a "sackable performance", while Matt Heath doubts fans will be won over by the style. But captain Harry Souttar said the result was "solely down to the players", and Jayden Joseph said the squad is convinced the philosophy just needs "time and patience".

"Speak to the players and people I've worked with, and people who have never seen it... it's very different perception and reality," Martin said. "When you try do something a bit different, it's always there to be shot at."

Martin said he "needs to do better, improve and learn", but reiterated his commitment. "I love what I do... I will always choose to try to embark on something that I really believe in... Maybe I'm in the wrong job for that."

"The most frustrating thing is that I've enjoyed the process here so much so far and it's not quite shown with the results, but I'm convinced it will."
