SilverStone FLP02 Review: Nostalgic Mid-Tower Case

SilverStone's FLP02 is a deliberately niche mid-tower case that prioritizes retro aesthetics over modern functionality or value. It’s not the most practical or affordable enclosure available. Instead, this case targets enthusiasts seeking a visually nostalgic build, drawing heavy inspiration from 1980s and 1990s PC designs to create a memorable sleeper chassis.

Based on the classic SETA D1 layout, the FLP02 refines the retro formula with more period-accurate visual and functional details. Key specifications include a steel and plastic construction with a side window, support for SSI-CEB to Mini-ITX motherboards, and pre-installed 120mm fans. It offers three external 5.25" drive bays, a 182 mm CPU cooler clearance, and a "fan turbo" button for quick overclocking of the included fans.

This case makes no apologies for its limitations. Builders sacrifice some modern convenience for its distinctive look, with tighter GPU clearance when HDD trays are installed. The FLP02 succeeds purely as a tribute to PC building's past, serving a small but dedicated audience that values throwback design over all-out practicality. It’s a boutique product for a specific vision.
