Windows 11 March Update Breaks C: Drive Access

Microsoft's Windows 11 March 2026 KB5079473 update has triggered a wave of system failures, with users reporting inaccessible C: drives, Blue Screen of Death errors, and freezing across multiple devices. While the official update page shows no known issues, Reddit threads and Microsoft's Q&A forum reveal widespread complaints about random reboots and sluggish performance.

Samsung Galaxy Book owners appear particularly affected, with the update completely blocking access to their C: drives. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and is working with Samsung on a fix. The culprit appears to be the Samsung Galaxy Connect application, which conflicts with the update. This issue specifically impacts Samsung Galaxy Book 4 and Samsung Desktop models running Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2.

The affected models include devices with codenames NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA. This marks one of the most severe cumulative updates in recent months, raising questions about Microsoft's quality testing procedures before global releases. The Redmond-based company had recently promised to focus on core features and step back from its "AI-everywhere" approach, but these persistent bugs suggest stability remains a work in progress.
