Steam Fixes VRAM Reporting Errors in Hardware Survey

Valve has quietly rolled out fixes in the latest Steam Deck beta client update to address long-standing issues with the Steam Hardware Survey. The update corrects incorrect VRAM reporting on certain GPUs and improves detection of the primary display adapter with the most video memory. These changes should result in more accurate hardware data collection While Valve hasn't specified which GPUs were affected by the VRAM reporting bug, the fix should eliminate discrepancies that may have skewed survey results for years. The update also changes how multi-GPU systems are handled, automatically detecting the most capable GPU rather than potentially reporting integrated graphics. This is particularly relevant for users running both workstation and gaming GPUs in the same system.

The beta update includes two minor Steam Input improvements: a multi-button selector for button chord activators to better support modern controllers with extra grip buttons, and refined gyro-to-joystick behavior that matches deflection settings. These polishing touches to both hardware survey accuracy and controller functionality suggest Valve is fine-tuning its ecosystem ahead of future hardware launches.
