Sony and TCL have signed definitive agreements to form a strategic partnership in the home entertainment sector, following their January 2026 memorandum of understanding. The partnership will create a new joint venture called BRAVIA Inc., with TCL holding 51% ownership and Sony retaining 49%.

Under the agreement, Sony will transfer its home entertainment business including Consumer TVs (BRAVIA), B2B displays, projectors, and home audio equipment to the new company. TCL will acquire 100% of Sony's manufacturing subsidiary in Malaysia and is negotiating for a stake in another Chinese manufacturing facility. The combined enterprise value of the transferred businesses is approximately 102.8 billion yen (HK$5.2 billion).

The new company will operate globally and continue using the Sony and BRAVIA brand names. Kazuo KII will serve as Representative Director, Chairperson and CEO, while TCL executives Biao JIANG and Bin LUO will join the board. The venture is expected to begin operations in April 2027 after obtaining necessary regulatory approvals.
