Seagate FireCuda X1070 NVMe SSD Specs Leak

Seagate's upcoming FireCuda X series of NVMe SSDs has leaked ahead of an official launch, with the first model being the X1070. This new drive represents a significant shift in naming conventions, jumping past the current 530R model. However, the specs reveal this isn't a performance upgrade but rather a different approach to storage.

According to leaked specifications, the X1070 offers maximum sequential read speeds of 7200 MB/s, down from 7400 MB/s on the 530R. Write speeds range from 6000-6500 MB/s depending on capacity, compared to 6800-7000 MB/s on the older model. Random IOPS also drop to around 900k from 1.3 million, and the TBW rating is roughly halved. The drive does offer lower power consumption of 3-4W less than its predecessor.

These specifications suggest the X1070 might be a DRAM-less design, trading performance for efficiency. While Seagate maintains its five-year warranty, the current FireCuda 530R appears to be the better option for most users. The X1070 seems positioned for those prioritizing power efficiency and heat reduction over raw performance.
