Samsung Display Unveils QuantumBlack Film for QD-OLED Monitors

Samsung Display has developed QuantumBlack, a new low-reflection, high-durability film for QD-OLED monitors that reduces light reflectance by 20% while increasing panel hardness to 3H. The technology will be fully applied to all new QD-OLED monitor products launched this year, addressing a key limitation of self-emissive displays where ambient light can interfere with true black performance.

This advancement builds on Samsung Display's ongoing efforts to improve QD-OLED monitors since entering the market. The QuantumBlack film not only enhances the viewing experience by reducing reflections but also significantly improves durability, with the surface hardness increasing from 2H to 3H level. This means the panels can better resist scratches during movement or cleaning, addressing a practical concern for users.

With 75% market share in the self-emissive monitor display sector, Samsung Display is positioned to drive industry growth as the global market is projected to more than double from 3.4 million units in 2025 to 7.6 million units by 2030. Major gaming brands like ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI are already preparing to launch monitors featuring this technology, signaling strong industry adoption of QuantumBlack.
