RPCS3 Emulator Adds Steam Library Integration

RPCS3, the open-source PlayStation 3 emulator, has introduced a new feature that lets users automatically add emulated games to their Steam library. This update eliminates the manual process of adding third-party games to Steam, streamlining the experience for gamers who use the emulator.

The integration works similarly to how Steam handles third-party game additions, but with one key difference: RPCS3 automatically imports the game's PS3 artwork along with the title. This small but significant UI improvement comes as RPCS3 continues to expand its compatibility, having recently achieved support for over 70% of the PlayStation 3 game library.

This development mirrors similar functionality Microsoft added to its Xbox App for Windows, recognizing the growing importance of unified game libraries. For Linux and SteamOS users, the integration could enable a completely controller-based experience through Steam Big Picture mode, allowing players to boot directly into games without touching a keyboard or mouse.
