Capcom's Resident Evil 1 Remake is officially in early development, according to prominent game leaker Dusk Golem. This news comes after the company cut a Raccoon City mansion scene from the recent Resident Evil Requiem to avoid repetition in both the upcoming Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake and the RE1 project. Golem revealed that featuring the same mansion in three successive games - Requiem, Code Veronica, and the RE1 remake - would risk feeling repetitive.

The Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake is now confirmed for a 2027 launch, while the RE1 remake is still in its earliest stages, making a 2029 release date the earliest realistic expectation. The RE1 remake will utilize the updated RE Engine that powered Requiem, which delivered decent visuals and performance even on modest hardware.
