Playmaji overhauls its Polymega retro gaming console with a redesigned Base Unit and introduces the Polymega Remix, a PC-based digitization tool. The Base Unit features a redesigned internal architecture, boosting performance with more CPU cores, higher clock speeds, doubled RAM, expanded storage, and quieter operation. While exact specs remain undisclosed, Playmaji claims the new hardware is several times more powerful than the original PM01 model, with immediate benefits for N64 emulation. Existing pre-order holders receive the upgraded unit free of charge, with new pre-orders slated for early summer.

The Polymega Remix peripheral, now in production, enables Windows 11 PCs, laptops, and gaming handhelds to digitize physical Playmega discs and cartridges via the free Polymega App. Compatible with Intel Macs at launch, iOS, Android, and Apple Silicon support are planned. Pre-orders for the $199 Remix launched April 16, with May shipping expected. The Polymega App will be available as a free download, and a 30% discount on the WC02 controller is offered via code RMXWC02 for bundled purchases.

These updates address earlier production hurdles, aiming to solidify Playmaji’s position in the retro gaming market. The Base Unit’s reliability improvements and the Remix’s flexibility for collectors without the full console expand accessibility. By bridging physical media and digital play, Playmaji targets enthusiasts seeking preservation and portability, reinforcing its niche in a competitive retro gaming landscape.

Playmaji’s focus on hardware refinement and ecosystem expansion underscores its commitment to retro gaming preservation. The Base Unit’s performance leap and the Remix’s cross-platform compatibility highlight efforts to balance nostalgia with modern convenience, appealing to both casual players and dedicated collectors.
