The recent shutdowns of live-service games like The Crew, Destiny, and Highguard have raised concerns about game longevity. Pocketpair has taken a different approach by building a post-support plan into Palworld's core design.

In a Discord response, Pocketpair's head of publishing and communications John Buckley stated that Palworld "isn't a live service anyway so...why would you assume it had an 'end of service'?" The game features both single-player and multiplayer, with official support for self-hosted dedicated servers on Linux, macOS, and Windows.

This means players can access content as long as they have local game files. Palworld recently surged in popularity, topping the Steam Top Sellers chart and nearing 1 million peak concurrent players following its full launch out of Early Access.
