Other World Computing rolled out its flagship OWC Stack AI at Computex 2026, the first Thunderbolt 5 AI accelerator and storage hub. The device plugs into a single cable, turning flash drives into a high‑speed DiskRAM that expands a PC’s working memory. Users can run large AI models locally without cloud offloading, keeping sensitive data on‑premises for research tasks today only.

OWC highlighted that the new unit sidesteps per‑token cloud billing, delivering a one‑time cost advantage. In its demo, the enclosure fed a laptop with 32 GB of virtual RAM, allowing multi‑turn AI conversations without slowdown. The move signals a shift toward private, high‑performance AI workloads that protect privacy while cutting operating expenses for small businesses and developers across various industries.

Alongside the accelerator, OWC unveiled the Express 4M2 Ultra, a Thunderbolt 5 SSD enclosure that supports up to four M.2‑2280 drives at 1.6 GB/s each and 6622 MB/s peak. The unit can daisy‑chain, letting a single 80 Gbps link serve multiple enclosures. Priced at $400 each, it targets creative studios that demand scalable, high‑throughput storage in a compact form factor for photographers and videographers worldwide.
