NVIDIA Hikes DGX Spark Price 17.5%

NVIDIA announced a price hike for the DGX Spark AI development standalone, increasing its MSRP to $4,699. The 17.5% increase raises the cost by $700 from its original $3,999 launch price. The company attributes this adjustment to industry-wide shortages of DRAM and NAND flash components that affect the machine's 128 GB LPDDR5X unified memory architecture.

"Due to memory supply constraints," NVIDIA stated in its Developer forums, the DGX Spark Founders Edition price will change later this week. Industry-wide component shortages have impacted various tech products, but AI hardware has been particularly affected. Partner-customized variants of the DGX Spark will likely face similar price increases as manufacturers cope with rising memory costs.

The price adjustment reflects broader market challenges in memory supply chains affecting AI development hardware. Customers planning to purchase DGX Spark units should anticipate the higher costs immediately. NVIDIA's move sets a precedent for pricing in the specialized AI development hardware segment as component shortages continue to impact production costs across the industry.
