Microsoft Raises Xbox Prices Up to 43% in Europe

Microsoft is raising Xbox console prices across the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom, effective August 1st. The increases are driven by ongoing memory shortages affecting GDDR6 supply chains. In Europe, the Xbox Series S 512 GB jumps from €349 to €499, marking a 43% hike, while the Xbox Series X Digital Edition rises from €549 to €749. The disc version of the Xbox Series X now costs €799.99. In the UK, similar increases apply, with the base Series S moving from £299.99 to £429.99. In the US, the 512 GB Series S goes from $399.99 to $499.99. Microsoft has not commented publicly on the extent of these changes. Console demand remains high ahead of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI release, and competitors like Sony have been securing memory supplies to mitigate shortages. Retailers may add further markups if demand exceeds available stock.

The pricing updates were compiled by members of the Resetera forum and reported by Video Games Chronicle. Microsoft confirmed earlier this year that it was adjusting pricing in the US market, but the broader international rollout with steeper increases came as a surprise to consumers.

These changes reflect ongoing challenges in the global semiconductor industry, where memory components have seen significant price volatility. Console manufacturers continue to navigate supply chain disruptions while managing consumer expectations around pricing.
