MicroProse is bringing back F-22: Air Dominance Fighter, a classic combat flight simulator from the 1990s. Originally developed by Digital Image Design, the game is set to release on Steam. Players will pilot the advanced F-22 fighter jet, experiencing realistic flight dynamics and avionics. This revival aims to recapture the essence of the original while adding modern enhancements.

This release offers a blend of accessibility and authenticity, allowing players to command the wider air war. Players can also serve as an AWACS controller, overseeing the entire theatre of operations. The game features over 90 missions across seven campaigns, set in the Red Sea region. It promises deep simulation with intuitive controls.

Modern upgrades include 6DoF head tracking, flexible visual presentation up to 4K, and modding support. Expect to see nearly 100 enhancements and fixes compared to the 1997 release. The original game was praised for its ambitious scope and innovative features. It was a leader in the flight sim genre.

For those interested in flight sims, this is a welcome announcement. The game's success could pave the way for other classic flight simulation revivals. Digital Image Design's focus on large-scale simulation and player-driven combat outcomes is still relevant. The Steam release date is not yet announced, but it is “coming soon”.
