The game received a PG-12 rating explicitly for the Switch 2, according to Gematsu's report on the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee's listing. This development follows the recent appearance of an $80 Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for Switch 2 on Amazon.

Currently, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy exists on the original Switch only as a cloud-based version, meaning all processing happens remotely rather than locally. The fact that the new version is explicitly rated for Switch 2 hardware implies it will be a native port rather than another cloud-only release. This distinction matters because the Switch 2's more powerful internals could allow for local processing, potentially improving performance and accessibility.

The cloud version currently costs $59.99 on the Nintendo eShop, but the native Switch 2 version might command a higher price, especially for physical copies. While no launch date has been approved yet, the age rating serves as concrete evidence that a Switch 2 release is in development, though it may still be months away from release.
