Intel TDX Security Gets Boost From Google Cloud Review

Intel and Google have concluded a joint security review of Intel Trust Domain Extensions (TDX). The five-month collaboration between Intel's INT31 research team and Google Cloud Security scrutinized the TDX Module 1.5, which is critical for managing confidential virtual machines. The review identified five vulnerabilities and 35 areas for improvement, all of which Intel has addressed.

Intel TDX represents a shift in data center security, creating hardware-isolated virtual machines. This is a contrast to traditional virtualization where the hypervisor has full access to guest data. The review specifically targeted the Live Migration and TD Partitioning features. Google used manual code review, custom bug-finding tools, and AI analysis with Gemini Pro to uncover flaws in this complex system.

This partnership highlights a growing trend of collaborative security validation. Because trust is paramount, vendors are increasingly inviting partners to audit code before widespread deployment. The goal is to ensure the technology is robust before it supports billions of users. Intel stated, "No product can be absolutely secure," and that more scrutiny strengthens the end product.
