Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd rolled out a new BIOS update for its Intel 800, 700, and 600 series motherboards, adding full support for the recently introduced HUDIMM (One Sub‑Channel DDR5) memory standard. The move targets users across budgets, giving mainstream builders a cheaper DDR5 option as prices stay high. This update arrives as DDR5 prices remain high, giving builders a way to adopt next‑gen memory without overspending.

HUDIMM replaces the dual‑channel layout of standard UDIMMs with a single 32‑bit sub‑channel, allowing memory makers to cut chip counts and lower costs. Gigabyte’s firmware now detects and initializes HUDIMM modules automatically, eliminating extra setup steps for end users.

The BIOS upgrade also unlocks asymmetric memory mixes. Users can pair an 8 GB HUDIMM with a 16 GB UDIMM, creating uncommon 24 GB kits while still enjoying three‑channel bandwidth. This flexibility offers a budget‑friendly upgrade path without replacing an entire memory set.

Gigabyte urges all owners of the affected boards to download the latest BIOS from its website. With HUDIMM support now available, consumers can finally build DDR5 systems without the premium price tag that has kept many mainstream setups out of reach.
