Nearly a decade after its original release, Darksiders Warmastered Edition now reaches PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a fresh Steam build follows. The update revamps the render engine, adds Vulkan support, and fixes bugs. Players on PC must run a 64‑bit CPU and a GPU that supports Vulkan 1.3, such as AMD Radeon R9 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 700 series.

Vulkan brings smoother frame rates and wider Linux compatibility through Valve’s Proton. The title already scores a silver rating on ProtonDB, with only media‑codec hiccups for cutscenes that need installation. Steam Input now supports motion‑controlled devices like the Steam Controller, opening the game to a broader range of peripherals.

Players gain a new photo mode in the pause menu that lets them frame shots before capturing with Steam or Windows tools. A long‑awaited bug fix corrects the reticule at lower resolutions, a welcome tweak for Steam Deck users and handheld players who struggled with precision on compact screens.

These updates breathe new life into a cult classic, aligning it with modern hardware and platform standards. Gamers who missed the original now have a polished experience across PC and next‑gen consoles. The release confirms that even older titles can thrive when developers invest in engine upgrades and platform support.
