CachyOS Proton 11 Brings NVIDIA Reflex and AMD Anti-Lag 2 to Linux Gaming

CachyOS has updated its custom Proton compatibility layer to version 11.0-20260519, introducing support for NVIDIA Reflex and AMD Anti-Lag 2 technologies on non-native games running under Linux. This follows a recent breakthrough that made these low-latency features work with Vulkan drivers across different GPU hardware.

The update implements the low_latency_layer workaround, allowing gamers to enable the features by adding "LOW_LATENCY_LAYER=1" as a launch option. However, additional configuration requires consulting the project documentation, as the implementation isn't plug-and-play for all titles.

Another significant addition brings Discord Rich Presence support through rpc-bridge functionality, activated via "PROTON_DISCORD_BRIDGE=1". The release also migrates Proton 11 to Windows 11 as the default environment and improves OptiScaler injection compatibility.

These enhancements address long-standing latency concerns in Linux gaming, where competitive players previously couldn't leverage manufacturer-specific optimizations. The timing coincides with increased Linux adoption among PC gamers seeking alternatives to Windows.
