Bungie Tackles Marathon Cheating Issues

Bungie has responded to cheating concerns in their new extraction shooter Marathon, outlining their zero-tolerance policy and upcoming anti-cheat improvements. The studio confirmed cheaters face permanent bans and acknowledged the "continuous cycle of monitoring, improving, and responding" needed to combat cheating in the PvPvE title.

Despite using BattlEye anti-cheat technology, which incidentally blocked Steam Deck and Linux users, Marathon has faced numerous cheating reports. Bungie is enhancing reporting systems with both in-game and web tools, plus implementing features to provide feedback when reports result in actions against cheaters.

The studio is also developing username privacy options to combat stream sniping in competitive matches and encouraging players to submit clips and VODs as evidence. This comes as Bungie works to balance the game's competitive integrity with accessibility across different platforms.
