Asustor has completed its AS72 rackmount NAS lineup with the AS7224RDX Lockerstor 24R Pro Gen 2, adding a 24-bay option to complement the 12-bay AS7212RDX and 16-bay AS7216RDX models launched in August 2025. The new model supports drives up to 32 TB, delivering 768 TB of raw internal capacity. With the AX7012R expansion unit, it can scale to 36 bays and exceed 1 PB total storage.

Powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7745 processor with 8 cores running up to 5.3 GHz, the AS7224RDX comes with 16 GB of DDR5-4800 ECC memory, upgradeable to 192 GB. The system features dual 10 GbE and dual 1 GbE ports out of the box, with PCIe Gen 5 slots available for 25/40/50 GbE NICs or SAS cards. Asustor claims SMB multichannel speeds of up to 2,309 MB/s read and 1,886 MB/s write over 10 GbE in RAID 5.

The feature set includes RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60, hot-swap bays, hardware encryption, M.2 PCIe Gen 5 SSD support, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and dual redundant 550 W 80 Plus Platinum PSUs. Pricing remains unannounced, but the AS7224RDX positions itself as a high-capacity, high-performance solution for demanding enterprise storage environments.
