ASRock Unveils PSUs with Overheat Protection at CES 2026

At the 2026 International CES, ASRock unveiled a new lineup of power supply units (PSUs) featuring an innovative L-type 12V-2x6 cable designed to protect high-end graphics cards from thermal damage. The standout feature is the cable's integrated thermal diode and two additional sensor pins that monitor connector temperature. If the temperature exceeds a safety threshold, the PSU's over-temperature protection (OTP) activates, shutting down the system to prevent melting or fire hazards.

While this may result in unsaved work loss, it effectively safeguards expensive hardware. The new cable is compatible with ASRock's Taichi, Phantom Gaming, and Steel Legend Platinum series. Alongside the cable, ASRock introduced the PRO series (850W, 750W, 650W) with 80 Plus Gold efficiency, the fully modular Steel Legend Platinum series (up to 1200W with dual 12V-2x6 connectors), and the compact Phantom Gaming SFX series, all meeting ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards.
