Arduino has launched a new variant of its UNO Q single-board computer, doubling the RAM to 4 GB and increasing storage to 32 GB of eMMC. This upgrade targets developers needing more headroom for complex applications, while maintaining the same Qualcomm Dragonwing QRB2210 and STM32U585 dual-processor design as the original 2 GB model.

The added memory is crucial for running Debian Linux with a full desktop environment, managing multiple high-level processes like web servers and databases simultaneously, or loading larger AI and machine learning models. The 32 GB storage accommodates extensive project assets, Linux packages, and long-term sensor data logs that the base model cannot handle.

This expansion reflects a growing demand in edge computing for more capable, yet accessible, hardware. By offering a higher-spec option, Arduino is positioning the UNO Q as a versatile platform for serious robotics, IoT, and AI prototyping, bridging the gap between simple microcontrollers and full-fledged single-board computers.
