Arch Linux has released its May 2026 ISO snapshot, marking the first ISO to ship with the Linux 7.0 kernel series (version 7.0.3). The new kernel brings improved hardware detection, particularly useful on newer machines and older hardware where previous ISOs sometimes failed to detect certain components. Linux 6.18.25 LTS remains available for users preferring long-term support.

The updated Archinstall 4.3 installer introduces a new "Additional Fonts" section, offering Noto Unicode for broad language coverage, Noto Emoji for colored emoji support, and Noto CJK variants for East Asian languages. The installer now automatically enables power management services after installation, fixes bugs with encrypted partition selection, and adds Hindi translation locale.

On the desktop side, KDE has updated to Plasma 6.6.4 with Frameworks 6.25, while GNOME reaches version 50.1. Graphics and audio come through Mesa 26.0.6, PipeWire 1.6.4 and BlueZ 5.86. Updated applications include Firefox 150, LibreOffice 26.2.3, and Blender 5.1.1. This snapshot serves as a current starting point for fresh installs, not for upgrading existing systems.
