AMD FSR Diamond Update for Xbox Helix Console

AMD is developing a next-generation FSR update called FSR Diamond for the upcoming Xbox Project Helix console, expected to launch in 2027. This AI-powered technology aims to enhance graphics capabilities beyond previous advancements like Radiance Caching and Ray Generation. The update could potentially match multi-frame generation features found in NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs and Intel's XeSS 3.0.

Since Project Helix will feature RDNA 5 / UDNA graphics IP, FSR Diamond might be exclusive to this generation, following AMD's pattern of tying latest technologies to current RDNA architectures. The company already differentiates its FSR Redstone suite, with features like Ray Regeneration and Radiance Caching limited to RDNA 4 hardware in the Radeon RX 9000 series. While basic upscaling and frame generation work on older generations through FSR 3.1 fallback, no FSR 4 support currently exists.

For multi-frame generation capabilities, FSR Diamond would require specialized hardware components similar to NVIDIA's MFG 6x mode and Dynamic MFG, which remain exclusive to GeForce RTX 50-Series Blackwell GPUs. The upcoming Xbox, known as Project Helix, has been the subject of longstanding rumors, with recent speculation suggesting it will function as a hybrid device bridging living room consoles and PCs.
